About the Job

Full-Time
Mid-Level
Commensurate w/Exp
Chicago,
This is an exciting opportunity to work directly with principal architect, Mike Ryan, in a faced-paced environment with exposure to the many different aspects of being a successful architect, including:  concept and schematic design, field measuring & drafting existing structures, feasibility assessment, zoning and code evaluation, construction detailing, engineering coordination, building permit acquisition, meeting with clients, managing client's expectations, and assisting with construction sales. We are a unique company seeking a fast learner who is eager to adopt responsibility.  Mike brings over 30 years of experience in high-end residential work, and our work is focused primarily on the design and permitting of new rooftop decks, but also includes extensive single family home renovations and new multi-unit housing projects. Salary starting at $60K + insurance, or more based on experience.

Applicant Requirements

Experience with Vectorworks and Sketchup are preferred.  Candidates should know the actual dimensions of a 2x4 and the different methods for fastening them together, and to other materials.  Knowledge and experience with the 2019 Chicago Building Code and Chicago Zoning Ordinance will be valuable assets.  Integrity and strong communication skills (verbal and written) are imperative.  A good sense of humor goes a long way, and the ability to stay focused and composed under pressure will be helpful.
