Allison Garwood Freedland

Allison Garwood Freedland is the Director of Outreach for AIA Chicago and joined the chapter in 2008. She is passionate about creating and cultivating opportunities for discovery and connection, particularly through K-16 driven programming.   

Allison spearheaded the resurrection and re-development of the Architects in Schools Initiative and works closely with the Chapter’s Community Engagement Committee to manage the program. In addition, she oversees the portfolio of programs and initiatives for the AIA Chicago Foundation. 

Prior to joining AIA Chicago in 2008, Allison was the Assistant Director of the Historic Chicago Bungalow Association where she created a successful homeowner’s workshop series and managed a city-wide grants program for bungalow homeowners. 
Allison has BA in Arts Management from Eastern Michigan University and a Masters of Science in Historic Preservation from the University of Pennsylvania.
