Recruitment Specialist
Location: Chicago, IL (Hybrid)
Type: Full-Time
Compensation: $60,000 to $75,000 base salary, plus uncapped commission and performance bonuses. Year 1 total compensation typically lands between $65,000 and $90,000. Established recruiters reach $140,000 to $175,000 by year 3.
WHO THIS ROLE IS FOR
This is a role for someone with an architecture or design background who wants to spend the day working with people. You already understand studios, project teams, delivery phases and the difference between firms. That knowledge is the hardest part of this job to teach, and it is exactly what makes a recruiter useful to the people they work with.
In this role you talk with architects, designers and firm leaders about their projects, their teams and where they want their careers to go. You learn how firms staff work, how they grow and what actually moves someone from one office to another. You stay close to the industry you trained in and you help other people navigate it.
No recruiting experience required. We train you.
POSITION OVERVIEW
As a Recruitment Specialist you connect design talent with firms and run the full process, from sourcing and outreach through interview coordination and offer negotiation. Relationships open doors. Placements come from consistent outreach, sound judgment and follow-through.
The work rewards persistence, clear communication and the ability to solve problems on the fly.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Source and engage architecture and design professionals through LinkedIn, referrals and industry networks
- Conduct phone and video interviews to understand candidates’ backgrounds, goals and motivations
- Build and maintain a pipeline of qualified candidates for current and future roles
- Run consistent daily outreach and keep the pipeline moving, including through the slow stretches
- Partner with clients to understand their hiring needs and match them with the right people
- Manage the full recruitment process, including interview prep, feedback collection and offer negotiation
- Maintain accurate records in our ATS and CRM
- Attend industry events and participate in trade organizations to meet people and stay current on what is happening in A&D
- Contribute to a team that works hard, holds a high bar and takes pride in helping people
WHY ARC SCOUT
- Base salary of $60,000 to $75,000 depending on experience
- Uncapped commission on placements. Roughly $5,000 to $15,000 in year 1 and $20,000 to $40,000 in year 2

Applicant Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in architecture, interior design or a related field
- Some sales experience. This counts broadly: retail, restaurant, fundraising, an internship, a summer job or anything in high school or college where you had to ask people for something and keep going after a no. Recruiting or agency sales experience is a plus but not required.
- Reliability and self-management. You are organized, on time and you track your commitments without reminders.
- Accountability. You own your results and can tell what is and is not working.
- Coachability. You take feedback and put it into practice.
- Drive. You want to win and you want to be paid for it.
- Strong communication. You connect clearly with people at every level.
