2026 AIA Annual Meeting Information

Shape the future of AIA's national leadership by becoming a Delegate.

As one of the largest chapters in the nation, AIA Chicago has a strong voice in representing the chapter at the national level. Becoming a delegate is an exciting way to shape the ideas and issues that matter most to our profession.

Delegates vote on behalf of our local members on issues including:

  • Candidates for national officers on the AIA Board of Directors
  • Any proposals to resolutions and amendments to the national bylaws
AIA, FAIA, Emeritus, Associate AIA, and International Associate AIA members of AIA Chicago in good standing are eligible to serve as delegates. The total time commitment for being a delegate is approximately six hours total (three hours of meetings + two hours for the annual meeting)

2026 Delegate Process

Step 1:

Tuesday, March 31 - Friday, May 8: Registration for AIA Chicago members who wish to be delegates at the national AIA Annual Meeting opens (see embedded "2026 AIA Chicago Delegate Registration Form")

Step 2:

Friday, May 16, 2:00 – 3:30 PM (central): REQUIRED in person attendance at AIA Chicago’s office to watch the AIA Town Hall, discuss any proposed resolutions and the candidates, and to review voting procedures.

Step 3:

Tuesday, May 26: AIA Chicago accredits member delegates with AIA national who have attended the town hall and chapter caucus.

Step 4:

Wednesday, June 10, approximately 12:00 PM (central): 2026 AIA Annual Meeting. Delegates vote on resolutions and candidates. AIA Chicago delegates can attend/vote either in person in San Diego or virtually.
