From the outset, our vision for the Turku Museum of History and the Future was to create more than a building; it had to be a civic connector, bridging Turku’s layered history, dynamic present, and sustainable future. Guided by principles of social inclusivity, environmental resilience, and cultural continuity, the design fosters dialogue between castle and city, land and sea, past and future. The site’s rich context, between Turku Castle, the Arts District, and the Aurajoki River, presented both inspiration and responsibility. The museum became an opportunity to weave together urban and ecological threads.
