Bringing essential services for Northwestern Medicine patients to an underserved Chicago neighborhood, the Old Irving Park Advanced Outpatient Care Center is tailored both to its site and the specific services needed in the community. With a plaza set back at the main entry and open spaces at three of the four corners of the site, the design aimed to scale the building to its neighborhood without compromising on the program area. The facades of limestone, terra and glazing unite with masonry neighbors, signaling a transition from Northwestern’s gothic brand into a head turning blur of technology on Irving Park Road.
