The project is a mixed-use building comprised mainly of office space and inclusive of 15 residential units. The design utilizes a mass-timber structural system as part of its overall climate action plan, and as a method for improving the wellness of the occupants through exposure to biophilia. As a ‘shell-and-core’, for-lease building, extreme care was taken to optimize daylight without sacrificing the building envelope’s performance. The design embraces its context formally and aesthetically, with the main entrance offset toward the mass transit connection and restored historic structure across the street.
