Jackson Lake Lodge Restoration
Moran, Wyoming

When it debuted in 1955, Jackson Lake Lodge reshaped perceptions of modernist architecture, blending National Park rusticity with bold, clean lines. Architect Gilbert Stanley Underwood's design, a 3-story concrete marvel, harmonized with Grand Teton National Park's landscape. Following a multi-year restoration concluding in 2022, the Lodge regained its original appearance. Notable is its "Shadowood" finish, achieved by pouring concrete into sandblasted plywood molds and acid staining the concrete surface for a wood-like appearance. Climate wear by 2020 necessitated repairs, including extensive concrete refinishing, roof replacement, and deck coating. The work restored the Lodge's historic charm, welcoming visitors to experience its timeless beauty anew.
