AIA Chicago to Honor Maureen Durack and the Executive Service Corps Team with 2023 Presidential Citation

Maureen guided the chapter in transformational change with a clear vision. 

December 4, 2023, CHICAGO – AIA Chicago, the second largest local chapter of the American Institute of Architects and the collective voice of over 4,000 licensed architects, emerging professionals, architecture students, and allied professionals, today announced Maureen Durack of Executive Service Corps (ESC) as the 2023 Presidential Citation honoree, on behalf of 2023 President, Mindy Viamontes, AIA. Maureen will be celebrated at the upcoming Building Together: Awards Program and Holiday Open House on Thursday, December 7, 2023 at the Chicago Architecture Center. 
 
“Leading the Executive Service Corps team, Maureen has helped AIA Chicago transform into an organization with a clear path for the future,” said Mindy Viamontes, AIA, 2023 AIA Chicago president. “Throughout the strategic planning process, she has led with a steady hand and a kind spirit, keeping our mission and vision at the forefront.”

For the past three years, Maureen Durack and the team at Executive Service Corps (ESC) have provided AIA Chicago and the AIA Chicago Foundation with monthly support and guidance in the implementation and the execution of the 2021-2023 AIA Chicago Strategic Plan, the first in over twenty-five years, as well as the forthcoming 2024-2026 AIA Chicago and the AIA Chicago Foundation Strategic Plans.

Maureen is a dedicated professional with nearly forty years of experience in transformation management, business operations, and technology leadership in the accounting and legal fields. In addition to her role as Principal Consultant at DURACK inc., Maureen provides Consulting and Engagement Management as a volunteer with Executive Service Corps, specializing in Fund Development, Board Development, and Strategic Planning for non-profit organizations in Chicago.  Throughout her career, Maureen has maintained a deep-rooted commitment to service that drives positive change within non-profit organizations and the broader professional landscape.  When she is not working with her clients, Maureen enjoys indulging her five grandchildren and is currently working with Snack Theatre at St. Edna’s in Arlington Heights to produce a musical revue show this spring. 

The Presidential Citation is selected annually by the chapter President of the AIA Chicago Board of Directors. The individual(s) recognized have served the members of the organization in an outstanding capacity throughout the president’s tenure and beyond. The decision of the award is at the sole discretion of the president.
