Josh Filus, account manager, and Beth Perillo, senior recruiter, from Aerotek Architecture & Engineering will offer a presentation on resume writing, interview strategies, and networking tips in order to give you an advantage in finding a job, whether temporary or permanent. Learn how to correctly sell yourself and your skills to land that next position, as well as key ways to network in this challenging environment. Josh and Beth will offer one-on-one resume reviews after their presentation.
Working for Yourself - Legal and Liability Issues

If you are suddenly on your own, you might decide to work for yourself or be a consultant to others. Eric Singer, Ice Miller LLP, and Melissa Roberts, AAI, Euclid Insurance Agencies, will offer guidance on what you should know before you start. Topics will include: contracts new businesses should use and why letter agreements are bad; business entities: corporations, partnerships, solo?; protecting your assets; promoting your business: can you take credit for work at prior firms?; basic risks and exposures and tips on how to manage; insurance products every design firm should consider. 2 LU

Non-profit job hunting assistance

Career Transition Center

The CTC is a not-for-profit organization which provides professional, emotional and spiritual support to those seeking a job, looking for meaningful work, or otherwise undergoing a career transition. CTC offers a variety of programs and resources to help individuals from all fields, and at all career levels, create plans to meet their goals. It has two full-time paid staff members. Nearly 100 volunteers serve as coaches, speakers, grant writers, computer experts and board committee members. Five downtown faith communities founded the Center; today, eight faith communities currently provide almost 20 percent of the Center's funds. CTC receives corporate and charitable contributions from a variety or organizations Support also comes from individual contributions and client fees.

Founded in 1884 as a resource for Eastern European immigrants, Jewish Vocational Service (JVS) is a dynamic agency delivering a comprehensive selection of non-sectarian employment and training services. JVS helps a diverse population explore career choices and find jobs in a rapidly changing marketplace. People who benefit include executives and middle managers, entrepreneurs, women returning to the workforce, young professionals, students, refugees, persons with disabilities and the economically disadvantaged. JVS helps more than 10,000 people annually match their skills to professional and business opportunities through a network of Chicago area employers.
